# Introducing Index by Parallel

Today we're launching Index[Index](http://index.parallel.ai), a platform that helps content owners understand how AI agents use their work and earn compensation tied to the value they contribute.
## How it works
Any site owner can enter their domain at index.parallel.ai[index.parallel.ai](http://index.parallel.ai) to see how Parallel's agents are using their content right now: which queries it's answering, how often it's referenced, and how unique its contribution is to the work the agent performed.

Compensation is calculated by estimating each source's Shapley value, its marginal contribution to the work an agent performs at the moment of inference. Content that's uniquely valuable, hard to replace, or used in high-value agent work earns more.
## Launch partners
We're launching with partners across the range of what makes the web worth reading:
- - **News publishers:** The Atlantic[The Atlantic](https://www.theatlantic.com), Fortune[Fortune](https://fortune.com)
- - **Business intelligence and data:** Enigma[Enigma](https://www.enigma.com), Fiscal AI[Fiscal AI](https://fiscal.ai), PR Newswire[PR Newswire](https://www.prnewswire.com), RocketReach[RocketReach](https://rocketreach.co), Tracxn[Tracxn](https://tracxn.com), ZoomInfo[ZoomInfo](https://www.zoominfo.com)
- - **Independent creators:** Alex Heath (Sources)[Alex Heath (Sources)](https://sources.news), Azeem Azhar (Exponential View)[Azeem Azhar (Exponential View)](https://www.exponentialview.co), Mario Gabriele (The Generalist)[Mario Gabriele (The Generalist)](https://www.generalist.com), Packy McCormick (Not Boring)[Packy McCormick (Not Boring)](https://www.notboring.co)
Parallel already serves over 100,000 developers and frontier AI companies including Harvey, Attio, Notion, Modal, Rogo, and Opendoor. Their agents perform real work across legal, finance, sales, and scientific research every day. Index turns that activity into a transparent market: site owners see where their content matters, agents reach high-quality sources, and participating publishers earn based on contribution.
## Why now
AI agents will use the web 1000x more than humans, but the old model of the web doesn’t work for them.
The old model was: publishers let search engines in, and they sent readers back. But AI agents don’t see ads or consume content the way humans do. They read the page, answer the question, and the human never arrives. Seventy-nine percent of major news sites now block at least one AI crawler. The licensing deals that do exist are flat fees, negotiated bilaterally, available only to content owners with the scale to get a meeting. Index introduces a new incentive-aligned economic model that spans the open web, benefiting both big and small players alike.
## What's next
We'll expand Index across more categories of content and open self-serve participation so any publisher can join. The platform is also open to AI agents built outside Parallel, so the market grows as agent demand grows.
