# The best MCP servers for Claude Code in 2026
Claude Code treats MCP as a first-class feature. These are the six servers that earn their context cost in 2026, with the exact claude mcp add command for each, and guidance on when the built-in tools are already enough.

### 4. GitHub MCP
GitHub's official hosted server covers issues, pull requests, code search, and Actions logs over OAuth. One honest caveat: Claude Code already drives the gh CLI well through bash, so if your GitHub use is light, you may not need the server at all. It earns its place when you work across many repos or want CI failures surfaced as structured context rather than parsed logs.
**Best for:** PR-heavy, multi-repo workflows.** Tradeoffs:** a large tool surface; limit toolsets so it doesn't crowd your context.
### 5. Playwright MCP
Microsoft's Playwright server gives Claude Code a real browser to click through the app it just changed: load the page, fill the form, screenshot the result.
